Life Skills Support

Developing practical independence and daily living skills in a supportive, person-centred way.

What Is Life Skills Support?

Life skills support focuses on non-intimate daily routines and practical independence. We help disabled people develop skills for everyday life, including personal organisation, household management, food preparation, communication, emotional regulation, safety awareness and community participation. We work at each person's own pace, respecting their goals and focusing on skills that matter to them.

Support is individualised and flexible. We focus on building confidence and enabling real independence where possible. TishAbility does not provide personal care, intimate care, washing, dressing, toileting, bathing or regulated care.

How We Teach Life Skills

  • Individualised Approach: Teaching focuses on the specific skills each person wants to develop, at their pace
  • Practical Learning: Real-world practice in genuine contexts (not simulation), with support and scaffolding
  • Confidence Building: Celebrating successes and supporting people to believe in their capabilities
  • Flexibility & Adaptation: Adjusting approaches based on learning style, needs and preferences
  • Partnership with Families: Working with families to support learning at home and reinforce skills

Important: This is non-regulated support. We focus on practical skill development, not clinical therapy. We work in partnership with families and professionals.
